For over 45 years, Action League of the Foothills also known as ALF, has held ALF Summer School at one of the elementary schools in the La Cañada Unified School District.  This year, we are pleased to be located at Palm Crest Elementary School.  ALF Summer School is administered by ALF members who are volunteers.  Many of the teachers, aides and principals come from the district and nearby areas. Many also return year after year to be part of the program.  During the summer, students are encouraged to participate “for the joy of learning” without any homework.

ALF Summer School will be held for four weeks from June 16 through July 11, 2025 with no school on Friday, July 4 due to the Independence holiday.  Classes WILL BE held on Thursday, June 19, Juneteenth.  Summer School classes are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. 

Students entering Kindergarten and 1st grade will have one classroom and teacher and will go outside for breaks and activities.  Students entering 2nd – 6th grade can choose up to three periods and will rotate between classes and the playground during breaks.  All classes are designed to be engaging and fun while also reinforcing concepts learned during the school year.

ALF Summer School students will enter Palm Crest Elementary through the Palm Drive entrance.  Further details about the campus, including Car Line instructions, will be included in the Welcome Packet sent to families in June.

For those students who will need childcare after ALF Summer School, the Child Educational Center will be on-site at Palm Crest Elementary to provide after-school activities for those who sign up.  Visit the CEC website for information about the program, how to register, and holiday closures.

Welcome Packet

Once you have registered your student for ALF Summer School, you will receive a confirmation by email.  Let us know right away if you do not receive this confirmation. One to two weeks prior to the first day of classes, the 2025 Welcome Packet will be sent electronically to the email address(es) listed during the registration process. The email packet will include a welcome letter from the ALF Summer School Chairs and Principal, a link to your online account login to check student classes and room numbers, a map of the school, Car Line instructions, and other special instructions needed for ALF Summer School.

The Welcome Packet will also be posted below as it becomes available. If you do not receive the Welcome Packet by Wednesday, June 11, 2025, please contact the ALF Summer School office at 818-790-2211 or Programs@ALFoothills.org.  If your address, email, or emergency contact information changes after your student is registered, be sure to make the appropriate corrections as soon as you know them, by going to your online account.  You may also contact us directly and we can make the changes for you.
